The City of Montgomery just cut the ribbon on a new playground at Cloverdale Park, and now, it has plans to bring even more playgrounds to neighborhoods across the community.

GameTime, a national leader in playground equipment, matched the city’s funding of $750,000 for equipment through its grant program, which aims to help communities leverage local investments for playgrounds and recreation facilities. The city parks and recreation department contributed $180,000.

The total funding for the 15 playgrounds is $1.68 million.

The new playgrounds will be located at:

  • Twin Gates Park
  • Hyde Park
  • Louis Armstrong Park
  • Peter Crump Park
  • Woodcrest Park
  • Forest Hills Park
  • Fox Hollow Park
  • Hunter Station Park
  • Newtown Park
  • Pecan Grove Park
  • Western Hills Park
  • Exchange Club Park

Playgrounds at Cloverdale Park and Southlawn Park are already complete, and Jackson Ferry Road Park’s playground is almost finished.

“These new playgrounds are about more than slides and swings – they’re about strengthening neighborhoods and providing our young people with safe spaces to grow, connect, and thrive.”

Mayor Steven L. Reed

The city says the estimated timeframe it will take to complete the projects is two to three months.

Each park will get its own design chosen by city council members.
