10 u-pick strawberry farms in Alabama to visit this season

Temperatures are rising + strawberries are ripening.
Strawberries are planted in the fall, around October, and are ready for picking between March and May (right before the hottest part of the year).
So we scoured the state and compiled a list of 10 great strawberry farms where you can pick them farm fresh for yourself.
North Alabama
LouAllen Farms
From strawberries to peaches, LouAllen Farms has your favorite summer produce. For more information regarding what’s in season, they recommend calling ahead.

Isom’s Orchard
Don’t be fooled by their name, Isom’s Orchard does more than just apples! They sell seasonal produce year-round and just opened for strawberry season!

DeLoach Farms
DeLoach Farms specializes in farm-to-door produce delivery, but they are happy to let you take the reins during their u-pick strawberry season!

Penton Farms – Sugar Hill
Sugar Hill specializes in strawberries that you can pick yourself! They have a variety of other options you can get your hands on as well!

Sunshine Farms
Sunshine Farms is an extension of J. Durbin Farms in Clanton, AL. This family has been farming since the 1950s, and they are excited to get their u-pick ready for business this season!

Handey’s Farm and Nursery
Handey’s has beautiful strawberries ready to be picked, and plenty pre-picked as well! They also have great local treats inside their shop!

Five Oak Farm
Five Oak Farm has just started picking their berries, and u-pick will be open soon, so be sure to keep an eye on their social media for updates. They also cook up yummy treats in their kitchen to fuel your harvesting!

South Alabama
Cassebaum Farms
Only a quick stop on your way to the beach for fresh strawberries, Cassebaum Farms has just opened for the season! This fifth-generation farm family hand-picks their fruits and vegetables each day.

Pettis Strawberry Farm
At Pettis Strawberry Farm, they focus on getting you the perfect strawberry: red, ripe, and juicy! Hand-picked by you or them check them out for locally grown sweetness!

Aplin Farms
Aplin Farms is located between Slocomb and Dothan. They are a fourth-generation farm with hundreds of varieties of fruits and vegetables; and most importantly, they have fresh strawberries right now!
