Clay County Yellow Meated Watermelon Festival in Ashland
Summertime in Alabama is almost synonymous with watermelon. In Clay County, the most important watermelon is the yellow-meated. Known for its color and small size, this sweet treat is a great way to end the summer.
The festival will feature additional food, vendors, a car show and the kick off by the Central High School of Clay County Marching Band.

Mitchell’s Place Dragon Boat Race + Festival in Birmingham

UFO Days Festival in Fyffe

Celebrating the supposed sightings of “an unidentifiable object flying” in the nighttime skies of Fyffe in 1989, the festival was kicked off with then-new mayor Larry Lingerfelt in 2004.
With music, food, games, and hot air balloons to represent the flying creatures of 1989, what was once a “frightening” event to locals is now a celebration in Sand Mountain.
