As temperatures fall, we’re turning our attention to outdoor activities here. One of our favorite ways to enjoy a chilly autumn night is with an outdoor movie at an iconic Alabama park. Whether you’re looking to get into the spooky spirit or enjoy a family-friendly movie, these “movies in the park” events are sure to be memorable.

Movies at Meyer Park—Gulf Shores

In Gulf Shores’ beautiful Waterway Village District, you’ll find Meyer Park, where outdoor movies are becoming a tradition. Families can set up lawn chairs and blankets, grab dinner from the food trucks and enjoy the films. As a bonus, there will be beer for the 21+ crowd.

Movies in the Park—Mobile

The City of Mobile’s Movies in the Park series is stacked with fun movies starting at dark each Thursday through October 26. Some movie nights even have themes. On Pet Night (October 12), you can bring your leashed dog, and on October 26, visitors are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Movies in the Park, which has been a Huntsville favorite for years, is getting even bigger this year. In the past, the event has been held in Constitution Park, but it seems they’ve outgrown that location and are heading to Big Spring Park. The movie lineup is still yet to be announced, but we’re sure it’ll be a fun time no matter what.

Outdoor Movie Series—Auburn

Just in time for prime spooky season, Auburn Parks and Recreation is hosting a double-feature movie night. For extra spookiness, it just so happens to fall on Friday the 13th of October. For the younger crowd, they’re showing Harry and the Hendersons, and later in the night they’ll show Friday the 13th Part III. Very fitting, right?
