Baseball players from Alabama A&M and Alabama State have been selected to play in the HBCU Swingman Classic, an annual Major League Baseball All-Star Week event that showcases the top 50 baseball players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Five ASU players and three Alabama A&M players will take the field for the game at Citizens Banks Park in Philadelphia, which can be viewed on the MLB Network July 10 at 6PM.

The pool of players was hand-selected by a committee that includes MLB scouts and National Baseball Hall of Fame member Ken Griffey Jr., who spearheaded the event with the inaugural game in 2023.

The Alabama A&M players selected include:

The Swingman Classic rosters will be broken up into two teams. The National League team will be led by 2007 National League MVP and Philadelphia Phillies Wall of Famer Jimmy Rollins, while the American League team will be managed by HBCU legend and 14-year MLB veteran Rickie Weeks.
