3 tornadoes confirmed across north Alabama, NWS reports

Tuesday night’s severe weather threat produced some strong storms across Alabama but it was the northern third of the state that saw the most impact.
According to initial surveys from the National Weather Service in Huntsville, three tornadoes touched down in Alabama within an hour of each other.

EF-2 in Madison
The longest track tornado from the night happened in Madison. NWS reported the the storm first touched down at 6:09PM, traveling 13.15 miles. It crossed Greenbrier Parkway and County Line Road.
The tornado was on the ground for roughly 26 minutes, reaching peak winds of around 125 miles per hour.
NWS said it had a max width of 380 yards.
EF-1 in South Athens
One tornado touched down just west of Lucas Ferry Road, traveling nearly three miles before ending just west of Highway 31 just two minutes later.
Between 6:11 and 6:13PM, the tornado covered 2.76 miles and reached a wind speed of 105 miles per hour.
EF-2 in Killingsworth Cove
This tornado was on the ground for just four minutes but its wind speed peaked at 134 miles per hour during that time.
It was roughly 175 yards wide and stayed on the ground for just over a mile from Acuff Road to JB Hawkins Road.
This was the last confirmed tornado of the night, staying on the ground from 7:07 to 7:11PM.
