In the market for a castle? No need to look for one in England or Europe—there is one for sale in Bremen, Alabama on Smith Lake, a little less than 50 miles from Birmingham.

Called The Castle on Smith Lake, this special place is listed for $4.9 million.

Her 1st castle

“This is my first listing as a castle, Krisalyn Riley Crye of Arc Realty, who listed the property, told The Bama Buzz. “I’ve done some really cool high end real estate. 

Some farms and homes in Mountain Brook to a large farm in Gardendale, but this is my first castle.”

Spectacular Views

Built into the side of a cliff, offers 180-degree views of the lake from almost every room.

“The architectural detail makes it a very special home,”  added Crye. “Once you’re inside the home, there is a  180 degree view from every single room in this house. I especially like  the beautiful two story 20-foot Solarium on the side of the home. You cannot get views like that anywhere. You’re high enough up on Smith Lake. You see east and west, you see the sunrise and sunset. It is a spectacular view with floor to ceiling windows throughout.”

Construction on the castle began in the late 70s and was finished in 1980. Crye shared two photos with The Bama Buzz taken of the castle before it opened.

Along with the stunning views the  four-bedroom, four-bathroom castle also has an open kitchen,  family room, three fireplaces, and stone staircase. Outside, there is a boat dock, fish house, four boat slips with two lifts. 

There is a 8000 square foot garage that would actually hold oversized tour buses or RVs with full hookup. 

“The area is very secluded, very quiet, and very calming. But then you can go down the hill and be on the lake and in a boat to enjoy the lake. You can have the best of both worlds,” Crye concluded.
