Alabama is home to many beautiful small towns to visit this summer including Tuscumbia. Located in North Alabama near Florence and Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia is a hidden gem in The Shoals.

1. Tuscumbia is the birthplace of Hellen Keller

Ivy Green, the home of Hellen Keller, is located in Tuscumbia just off of the downtown area. The home is now a museum that features the family’s original furniture and personal items, along with a gift shop including gifts and books.

During the month of June, the Hellen Keller Festival is celebrated for a week in Tuscumbia.

2. Tuscumbia is home to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame

The Shoals is known for its very rich music history, which makes sense why the Alabama Music Hall of Fame is located in Tuscumbia. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame features all of the famous musicians that came through Alabama, along with stories behind their famous songs and interactive exhibits.

Tuscumbia is home to many historic houses that are a must see when visiting this small town. Some of the famous homes include the Belle Mont Mansion and Locust Hill. Belle Mont Mansion is available to tour and hosts many events throughout the year.

This small town is home to many gorgeous parks and nature preserves. Some of the nature spots and parks in Tuscumbia include Cane Creek Canyon Nature preserve and Tuscumbia Spring Park.

Cane Creek Canyon is just south of Tuscumbia and features a beautiful landscape and 15 miles of hiking trails. Tuscumbia Spring Park is located near the town center and features a gorgeous waterfall and fountain centerpiece.
