Now that it’s football season, you might be on the hunt for a great dive bar. Somewhere you can park yourself for a few hours and get some inexpensive drinks while watching the game.

From the downtown haunts to the hidden gems, we’ve rounded up five dive bars all over Alabama you need to know.

Hayley’s Bar | Mobile

Touted as the “oldest bar on Dauphin Street”, Hayley’s is a great first bar to visit when you’re in downtown Mobile—or the final stop, since they’re open so late. No matter what time you arrive, the drinks are always cold and the people are always kind.

The Jailhouse | Opelika

The Jailhouse might be the most unique bar on this list. It’s the private event space hosted in the back room of Rock ‘N Roll Pinball in Opelika. They host weekly open-mic/karaoke nights, plus some great local musicians.

Even better, both spaces are dog-friendly—so Fido can come along, too.

Catch 22 specializes in infused liquors—which give the entire place a kind of apothecary vibe. You can pick your infused drink-of-choice and enjoy it neat, on the rocks or mixed into a delightful cocktail. The infusion menu is always rotating, too—so you get to try something new every time.

On the Rocks | Florence

On the Rocks is your one-stop shop for a late-night bite and dive bar vibes in downtown Florence. Plus, there’s always something fun going on—from Bingo to live music.

Mom’s Basement | Birmingham

I’ll give you three reasons you’ll love Mom’s: free rounds of pool, a great patio and all of the photos on the wall are pictures of real customer’s moms, donated throughout the years.
