October’s colorful, breezy atmosphere is the perfect setting for art festivals in Alabama. Here are five that you don’t want to miss this month—from a chalk art festival to a jazz and art festival.

1. Jubilee Festival of Arts—Daphne

Daphne’s Jubilee Festival of Arts is a must-experience art festival. (Jubilee Festival of Arts)

The Jubilee Festival of Arts is a highly-anticipated event on the Gulf Coast each year. This time, they’ve permanently bumped the dates back to October, making for a cooler experience. At this multifacted festival, you’ll find a kids art park, the Jubilee Market, a high school art competition, live music, dance performances and more.

2. River Clay Fine Arts Festival—Decatur

Hosted in beautiful, charming Downtown Decatur, the River City Fine Arts Festival draws huge crowds each year to enjoy the sights and experiences. It kicks off with an Arts Patron Preview Party called the River Clay Rendevous, and follows with two full days of the artist market.

Featuring local and national artists, you’ll find all types of creations at this juried fine arts festival. Plus, they’ll have children’s art activities, a student art exhibit and food trucks.

3. Jazz & Art Festival—Anniston

Celebrating art in its many forms, the Main Street Anniston Jazz & Art Festival is a New Orleans-inspired event. The three-day festival starts with a community concert and low country boil. Then, guests can marvel at the indoor art galleries and exhibits created by locals.

One of the most unique things about this festival is how involved the kids can be. For a $10 donation, children can participate in the Make + Take Workshop as well as contribute to the Community Mural.

4. Chalktoberfest—Huntsville

For a fun twist on the traditional art festival, head to Huntsville’s own chalk art festival. This year, Bridge Street Town Centre is hosting the 4th annual event, bringing together the community for live music, face painting, balloon art and, of course, chalk art. In years past, the chalk art has been seriously impressive, and guests can vote on their favorite!

5. Art in the Park—Lillian

The 2nd Annual Art in the Park festival in Lillian, Alabama is happening on October 14. Featuring a vendor market, original art from local artists and more, this festival is one worth putting on your calendar.
