What better place to munch on some all-American food than a rustic, western themed cafe from the ’90s? Established in 1993, this burger joint named after an American train and bank robber has remained in high demand from the day their doors opened in Midtown Mobile. Their slogan is, “It’s what’s between the buns that counts,” with respect to their “now famous” Butch Burger.

The Butch Burger is dressed with all the classics: bacon, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, mustard and mayo.

Butch Cassidy’s is destined to take care of all of your burger needs, so be sure to go check it out.

2. Roshell’s Cafe & Deli

It’s the kind of place where you can plop down on one of their tattered, red stools in front of the bar and learn the life story of the person next to you. Whether you’re sipping on a coffee at 7AM or grubbing on a steer burger at lunchtime, Roshell’s Cafe & Deli provides a friendly environment to satisfy your appetite.

Their mouthwatering steer burger is fixed up with: lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, ketchup and mayo.

Roshell’s was also nominated for “Best Burger” for the 2023 Nappie Awards! The people of Mobile think that Roshell’s is one of the best, and you might too.

3. Bay Town Burger Co.

Burgers, beignets and baseball — name a better trio. This burger joint is the “sibling” of Mo’Bay Beignet Co, and was created as an homage to the owner’s sons’ love for both baseball and burgers. Since 2021, when the owner Jaclyn’s Robinson’s idea became a reality, the restaurant has been booming.

The tables and walls inside feature photos of baseball teams from the Mobile area, so you may see some familiar faces while you eat a tasty meal. Their most popular burger is called the “Player’s Choice,” as you basically get to choose whatever you want on it.

The Player’s Choice is composed of: cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, bacon and your choice of Alabama BBQ sauce, bay sauce or garlic aioli.

Take a trip to Bay Town Burger Co. and you may even get the pleasure of sitting at a table that features photos of your high school baseball team.

4. Bob’s Downtown Diner

From tacos to burgers, Bob’s Downtown Diner is everything and more. Although this eatery offers breakfast all day long, trust me, their burgers are unmatched. One of their most highly requested burgers is the “Mobillionaire Burger.”

This billion dollar burger is loaded with:

  • Tomato jam
  • Candied bacon
  • Pimento cheese
  • Romaine lettuce

They often say, “there are no limits to what we can cook,” which is evident when you take a bite out of this unique burger.

5. The Dew Drop Inn

The Dew Drop Inn may knock your socks off with their hotdogs, but don’t underestimate their burger skills. According to a passage on their menu, Mobile native Jimmy Buffett’s passion for burgers was developed at Dew Drop. Among their most popular menu items is the chili cheeseburger.

The Chili Cheeseburger is covered in four simple but delicious ingredients:

  • Dew Drop’s signature chili
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Pickles
