Nothing beats a good sushi run. Whether you’re all about the spice or love the creative, creamy flavors, these five spots in Tuscaloosa are must-tries.

1. Ajian

You can build your own sushi at Ajian (Grace Brindley / The Bama Buzz)

Former Alabama quarterback A. J. McCarron’s restaurant, Ajian, is a quick and easy place to grab sushi. Customers can build their own rolls or choose from yummy menu items, such as the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. My go-to is the rainbow roll!

2. Chuck’s

If you’re looking for a more upscale sushi spot, Chuck’s is a great option. This seafood restaurant always has fresh catches, as well as an amazing wine and drink selection. I recommend the Ed Roll, which is one of Chuck’s secret menu items.

3. Ichiban japanese grill

Ichiban
Ichiban has the best variety of sushis (Grace Brindley / The Bama Buzz)

This quaint Japanese eatery offers a variety of sushis from vegetarian to nigiri rolls. Plus, groups can order the sushi family combos, which serve up to six people.

4. Rock N Roll Sushi

Rock N’ Roll Sushi is such a fun place to go. Between its rock and roll theme, great atmosphere and fabulously creative sushi, you won’t be disappointed. I recommend the Twisted Tuna!

5. Thai Basil Sushi II

Thai Basil Sushi II might just be my favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa. From soups to sushi to noodle bowls, they have it all. The Submarine Roll is incredible.
