Contrary to what the name implies, Oktoberfests across Alabama start up in September. Get ready for German foot, guten tags and lots of beer. Cheers!

1. Cullman Oktoberfest

The Cullman Oktoberfest has been celebrating German heritage—and beer—for over 40 years. This year, the three-day festival includes entertainment, a costume contest, stein hoisting contests, wiener dog races, a kids zone, vendors, a brat eating contest and even a 5K and 10K.

2. Auburn Oktoberfest

In a college town like Auburn, you can’t let an Oktoberfest interrupt football. The Auburn Oktoberfest features live-streamed football games, as well as much more entertainment. Stein hoisting competitions, live music, wiener dog races and more will make for a full two days of fun. One of our favorite parts is Homebrew Alley, where local home brewers will compete to win visitors’ votes.

3. Redstone Arsenal Family and MWR Oktoberfest

The 26th Redstone Arsenal Family and MWR Oktoberfest is bringing lots of German spirit (and beer) to Huntsville once again. Over three days, the Festhalle and Craft Biergarten will be filled with festival-goers enjoying the live music and 60+ beers and ciders on tap.

4. Birmingham Zoo Oktoberfest

Build-your-own brats and beer. What more could you want from an Oktoberfest? The Birmingham Zoo’s Oktoberfest features authentic German beverages, food trucks, snacks and more. Heads up—this is a 21+ event.

5. St. Florian Oktoberfest

Florence knows how to do an Oktoberfest Alabama-style. St. Florian Oktoberfest features a barbecue competition, tractor show, face painting, a car show, vendors, live music and more.
