5 ways to celebrate the holidays in Tuscaloosa, including the Tinsel Trail

There’s nothing better than the holidays in Tuscaloosa. After a season of home games, Title Town puts all of its legendary spirit into the holiday season. Whether you’re looking for a festive performance or a tinsel-studded trail, there are no shortage of ways to celebrate this season. We chose our favorite holiday happenings around town.
1. T-Town Tinsel Trail
Almost 200 Christmas trees are aglow in the heart of Tuscaloosa this month. Each one of the trail’s mesmerizing trees is sponsored by a local business or organization. They’re decorated with creative themes ranging from a Snoopy Christmas to Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” Truly, each tree is a work of art.
The Tinsel Trail moved from the Riverwalk to Government Plaza this holiday season in an effort to attract more visitors to T-Town. Check out the plaza’s ice skating rink to make it a perfect winter night!

2. The Nutcracker
The Tuscaloosa Community Dancers are celebrating their 50th season of The Nutcracker this year at the Bama Theatre. The iconic ballet is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays while supporting local talent. Not to mention, The Bama Theatre is a beautiful and welcoming venue.

3. Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert
I don’t know about you, but I love some classical holiday tunes. The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will play its own renditions of Christmas classics to ring in the holiday season. Their pieces will ring through the Moody School of Music on Monday, December 13. You can purchase tickets for the concert here.

4. West Alabama Christmas Parade
The West Alabama Christmas Parade will spread holiday cheer through downtown Tuscaloosa on Monday, December 6. Businesses and organizations from throughout the community are preparing floats for the festivities. This year’s theme is “Super Heroes Celebrate,” so it’s sure to be a favorite for all the Marvel fans young and old.

5. Krampusknacht Holiday Market
The Krampusnacht Holiday Market is the perfect way to celebrate local artists and get your gifts early. The traditional market at The Comic Strip in Tuscaloosa will feature local artists and storewide sales.
