6 last-minute Alabama-themed Halloween costumes
Reading time: 3 minutes
You’ve put it off but Halloween Week has arrived and now you suddenly need a fun and clever costume for that Halloween party you’ve been invited to.
Not to worry! We’ve got some Alabama-centric costume ideas that you can throw together at the last minute.
Toomer’s Oak
- Brown sweatpants/sweatshirt
- Large green wig
- Toilet paper
Nothing says “celebration” like dressing up as the gathering place for all Auburn celebrations, the famed oak trees at Toomer’s Corner. Make sure you get help from a friend when it comes to draping that toilet paper all over your limbs.
The Bessemer Kangaroo
- Brown clothes
- Moon shoes
Halloween is a night of mischief and what’s more mischievous than an escaped kangaroo?
There have been multiple cases of escaped marsupials in Alabama’s modern history but the most recent notable case took place earlier this year in Bessemer, where local residents were shocked to spot him hopping around town.
Connor (The Guy Stuck in the Urn)
- Large Plastic container
- White dress shirt
Alabama has created more than its fair share of viral internet moments and 2024 kicked off with a classic when a man at a New Year’s party in Mountain Brook found himself stuck inside a decorative urn.
If you decide to go with this costume, make sure your urn is made from a flexible and easy to escape material like plastic. You don’t want to become the next Alabama-based meme.
The Ghost of the Nick Saban Era
- White sheet
- Construction paper (make championship rings with numbers on them)
- Small Plastic Trophies
For many Alabama fans, the true horror of the fall of 2024 has been experiencing a football season without Nick Saban. Our idea: become the ghost that is truly haunting so many fans in Alabama this year – the specter of past championships.
Gulf Shores Souvenir Shop
- Pool float
- Cheap plastic toys
- Diving rings
- Hermet crab shells
- Airbrush t-shirt
Become the physical embodiment of one of the dozens of souvenir shops dotting the roads in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach. Cover yourself in as many trinkets as your airbrush t-shirt will hold.
Space Camp Habitat
- Silver/gray spraypaint
- Pool noodles
With just some spray paint and those tubular pool floats, you can easily become the iconic habitat bunks from Huntsville’s Space Camp!
