If you have ever visited Lake Martin, Alabama, then you know how beautiful (and big) it is! It is the largest man-made lake in the state, with 880 miles of shoreline to cover. Now, I know that sounds very overwhelming, so we have highlighted 7 must-visit spots on Lake Martin, Alabama (in no particular order).

1. Kowaliga Restaurant

This special restaurant was named after a famous wooden Indian and has a neat history. It is said that Hank Williams wrote a song in 1952 about Kaw-liga, the wooden Indian he saw across the lake (at the site of today’s Kowaliga)! Throughout the years, it has been rebuilt a total of 4 times. The current restaurant is a Lake Martin favorite, with an indoor dining room, outdoor patio, pine head bar, a beach and spots for docking.

2. SpringHouse

If you are looking for a more fancy dining option, the SpringHouse is your place. This fine dining spot on Russel Lands overlooks the stables, pastures, beautiful forests and Lake Martin. The palate has a classic Southern style with a modern twist, and it highlights the seasonal best. It is a beautiful experience with amazing food.

3. Catherine’s Market

Right down the road, you will find the cutest local market. Catherine’s Market has a “little bit of a lot,” as they like to say! With the best grocery store picks you could think of, (but in a small town fashion) Catherine’s has something for everyone. They also have the most delicious fresh pastries and a deli. Grab a bite to eat here and walk around the beautiful lands.

4. Chuck’s

Chuck’s is the perfect place to pull up by land or by lake. Come in whatever you are wearing to get some gas and stay for some good food. Bring the whole family, grab a beer (if you are 21 or over of course), order some pizza, and listen to some live music for a great experience at this fun spot.

Bluff’s Daiquiri Bar at Harbor Point Marina is a great atmosphere to come grab a drink with friends on the lake. The best part about this bar? It is floating! I can confidently say that this is the only floating bar I have ever been to. Come listen to local artists perform and enjoy yummy drinks.
