What beer will come out on top this year? (The Bama Buzz)

Last year, we asked for help choosing the best beer brewed right here in Alabama. And our readers came out in waves to vote through five rounds of the first annual Bama Beer Bracket, eventually settling on the Cahaba Blonde as the 2024 champion.

But ever since that tournament ended, we know some breweries have had their eye on knocking off the popular Blonde from the top spot. And this year, we’re giving even more beers a chance at the title.

The 2025 Bama Beer Bracket includes:

  • 64 beers
  • 21 different styles
  • 31 breweries
  • 17 cities

Scroll down to see the entire bracket which is broken up into four regions + how you can vote for your favorite Alabama beer.

How to vote

Starting Monday, March 17, we will be posting each matchup on our Instagram stories, allowing you to vote one time for every matchup in each round. Here’s the voting schedule:

  • First round: March 17
  • Second round: March 20
  • Sweet 16: March 24
  • Elite 8: March 27
  • Final 4: March 31
  • Championship: April 4

The Final Four will match up the Region 1 winner vs. the Region 4 winner + the Region 2 winner vs. the Region 3 winner.

Our champion will be revealed on April 7, which coincides with the men’s college basketball national championship game + National Beer Day!

The bracket

  • 1
  • 2
  • 3
  • 4

We build this bracket using a variety of resources including our own experiences, last year’s tournament, BeerAdvocate scores, Untappd check ins and of course, your nominations.

At first, we thought it may be hard to fill a 64-beer competition but we had to leave out so many great beers from every corner of our state. (So apologies in advance if we left out your favorite beer but make sure to send us a note so we can include it next year!)

Of course, we had to give our reigning champion—the Cahaba Blonde—the No. 1 overall seed. The other top seeds are from some of the other top-performing beers from last year including:

  • TrimTab Paradise Now (runner-up)
  • GP Snakehandler (Final 4)
  • Straight to Ale’s Monkeynaut (Elite 8)

A total of 15 beers from last year’s bracket have returned to the field for this year’s competition.

While we will be doing voting round by round, you can fill out the entire bracket for yourself. Post it across social media and tag The Bama Buzz on InstagramXFacebook + LinkedIn!
