Who’s ready to play ball? Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC) is. The college just broke ground on its new $7.8 million softball facility, which will be an impressive addition to the school’s campus. Here’s what you need to know.

State-of-the-art softball facility brings women’s team to NACC

The new softball facility will be top-notch. Features will include:

  • Lighting (for some awesome night games)
  • Artificial turf
  • On-site locker rooms + training facility
  • Recreational + picnic areas nearby

It’s designed by McKee & Associates, an architecture firm out of Montgomery that has designed stadiums for Auburn University, Troy University and Jacksonville State University.

On August 8, NACC broke ground on the new facility, and it won’t be long before they welcome the new team to the field.

The NACC Mustangs are expected to play ball next year

The new softball team, the NACC Mustangs, will be led by Coach Joe Guthrie. The team is expected to start playing at the new field in fall 2023. In a NACC press release on July 31, the president of NACC said:

“We are very happy to bring women’s softball to the college level. There is much excitement in our area in anticipation of our starting a women’s softball program at Northeast. I am a real fan of women’s softball myself.”

Dr. David Campbell, President, NACC

We can’t wait to cheer on the NACC Mustangs!
