Smithsonian Magazine’s 17th annual Museum Day is taking place Saturday, September 18th, at select museums in cities (and states) across the country—Alabama is one of them.

According to the Birmingham Patch, a news release stated this year will celebrate the return to (and revival of) our country’s diverse cultural experiences in a theme they named “Experience America.”

Museum Day’s purpose is to promote equal access to the wide array of museums in the United States—especially among underrepresented communities and children.
