7 spots to grab the best sandwiches in Alabama

I don’t need a national day or month to celebrate a good sandwich. Sure, some of the best ones may be made yourself in your own kitchen but sometimes you need the professionals to take over.

There are plenty of spots around the state we would recommend but we had to narrow this list down to just seven so we wouldn’t keep you all day.

5 Points Deli + Grill in Montgomery

  • What: 5 Points Deli & Grill
  • Where: 1010 E. Fairview Ave, Montgomery, AL 36106
  • Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11AM-8PM
  • Rec: You’re going to see a lot of good burgers on their menu and you wouldn’t be making a wrong choice with any of them but if you look at some of their recent posts, they have something new called the Big Squealer. And it’s all I can think about.

Amelia’s in Gulf Shores

  • What: Amelia’s Deli and Catering
  • Where: 2200 E 2nd St Ste A Gulf Shores, AL, US 36542
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 11AM-3PM
  • Rec: A perfect weekday lunch spot near the coast for locals and visitors alike. We would say stick with whatever you are used to but if you’re looking for someone to make the decision for you, we recommend the BLT.

  • Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11AM-9PM | Friday-Saturday, 11AM-10PM | Sunday, 10:30AM-9PM
  • Rec: There may be some nicer food on the menu but for those looking for the quick bite to eat, the sandwiches will not disappoint. Bama Buzz intern Audrey Kent recommends the chicken salad melt sandwich.

  • What: The Garage

  • Hours: Wednesday-Thursday, 11AM-11PM; Friday-Saturday, 11AM-2AM; Sunday, 12-10PM
  • Rec: You’re going to want The Fritz. Just trust us on that one.

Panini Pete’s in Fairhope

  • Hours: Sunday-Wednesday, 8-10:30AM + 11AM-2:30PM; Thursday-Saturday, 8AM-2:30PM + 5PM-9PM
  • Rec: I’m a sucker for anything related to french toast but Pete’s Monte Cristo is just a thing of beauty. Sourdough french toast, sliced ham, turkey, swiss cheese, and honey dijon, Grilled and topped with syrup and powdered sugar. Perfection.

Rivertown Coffee Company in Florence

  • What: Rivertown Coffee Company
  • Where: 117 N Seminary St Florence, AL, US 35630
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7AM-7PM; Saturday, 8AM-7PM
  • Rec: Bama Buzz intern Bess Christopher recommends the Daybreak, a breakfast sandwich on the menu. It includes fried egg, sharp white cheddar, spinach + garlic mayo with a choice of ham or turkey.

Copper House Deli in Wetumpka

  • What: Copper House Deli
  • Where: 100 E. Bridge St Wetumpka, AL, US 36092
  • Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11AM-8PM
  • Rec: You may notice that this one was out of our original list from last week’s Instagram reel but this was one of my go-to lunch spots in Wetumpka. If I had to choose one recommendation it would be the Lock 17, a brisket loaded grilled cheese.
