8 Big Lots stores reopening in Alabama this May: What you need to know

Need your Big Lots fix? Remember in late 2024, the giant discount chain declared bankruptcy closing nearly every store in Alabama? Then a December miracle happened.

Variety Wholesalers (VW), the parent company of Roses and other brands like Maxway, agreed to take over and reopen a couple of hundred Big Lots stores.

This month, VW announced plans to reopen eight Alabama Big Lots in May.

For the bargain hunters out there — here is the Alabama list:

Opening May 1st

• Athens: 603 US Hwy 72 W
• Decatur: 1820 6th Avenue SE
• Dothan: 2821 Montgomery Highway
• Mobile: 5363 Hwy 90 W, Suite C

Opening May 15th

• Cullman: 1619 Town Square SW
• Guntersville: 14228 US Highway 431
• Jasper: 1100 Hwy 78 W
• Northport: 5510 McFarland Boulevard
