Alabama artists gallery reopens with new exhibition featuring 2025 fellowship recipients

The Alabama State Council on the Arts has reopened the Georgine Clarke Alabama Artists Gallery in Montgomery with a new exhibition highlighting recent works by Alabama-based artists.

Titled 2025 Fellowship Spotlight, the exhibition features works by artists who received fellowships in visual arts, craft and media/photography. The show explores themes of color, community and narration through a wide range of mediums including quilts, collages, photography, sculpture and painting.

Here’s what to know before you go:

The exhibition includes work from nine artists across the state:

  • Erin Dailey (Florence)
  • Nancy Goodman (Mobile)
  • Kat Griffith (Birmingham)
  • Roscoe Hall (Birmingham)
  • Will Jacks (Troy)
  • Bethany Moody (Odenville)
  • Charity Rachelle (Birmingham)
  • Michael Swann (Tarrant)
  • Cynthia Wagner (Huntsville)

Each artist brings a distinct perspective rooted in personal experience, regional identity and contemporary Southern narratives.

“The fellowship program fosters our state’s creative talent through direct support of artists,” said Elliot Knight, executive director of the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

“Showcasing the works of this cohort of fellows reinforces the Council’s mission to celebrate and advance Alabama’s vibrant arts community.”
