Alabama baseball set to host first super regional since 2006

Alabama baseball wrapped up the Tuscaloosa Regional in dramatic fashion Sunday night as Brady Neal’s 3-run homer in the 11th inning helped send the Crimson Tide to its first Super Regional appearance since 2023.

And for the first time in two decades, Alabama will be the host of a super regional.

The Tide will be back in action this weekend at The Joe, hosting a best-of-3 series against the winner of Monday’s game between Florida State and St. John’s.

Tuscaloosa Super Regional

Alabama went 3-0 in regional play, taking down Alabama State, USC Upstate and Oklahoma State to advance. The Tide is now one of the final 16 teams remaining on the Road to Omaha.

“Really excited for Tuscaloosa. I tell you what, we might not have had the numbers at the beginning, but (the fans) were rocking. That’s what it’s supposed to look like, and they were into it, they were fighting with us, and you could feel it. These guys could feel it, and now fortunate enough to get to run it back one more time this weekend. As exciting as this is, the job’s not done, and these guys know that.”

This is the ninth time in program history Alabama has won a regional. The Tide hopes to now advance past the super regional stage for the first time since 1999—the team’s last Men’s College World Series appearance.

The schedule for the super regional has not been finalized yet. This story will be updated as time, dates and ticket information is announced.

Road to Omaha

Alabama, the No. 7 national seed, is one of five SEC teams to already secure a spot in the Super Regional round including:

• Texas
• Georgia
• Ole Miss
• Mississippi State

Seven more sports will be determined Monday including the Auburn Regional as the Tigers host Milwaukee in the final at 5PM on ESPNU. Troy is playing in a regional final against Florida at 5PM on SEC Network.

Each super regional will feature a best-of-3 series with the winner advancing to the Men’s College World Series.
