Alabama basketball moves up in latest rankings after opening weekend of SEC play

It was a historic weekend for the Alabama men’s basketball team as it recorded a fourth consecutive win over Kentucky for the first time in program history.
The victory was Alabama’s first of SEC play, improving to 11-3 overall. The Crimson Tide moved up to the No. 13 in Monday’s AP Poll + to No. 12 in the Coaches Poll.
Alabama will take its four-game winning streak to Nashville this week for a top-15 showdown against No. 11 Vanderbilt. The game is scheduled to tip off at 8PM on Wednesday.

AP Top 25
Alabama is the highest ranked 3-loss team and the second-highest ranked team with multiple losses. The Tide’s three losses are all to teams currently ranked ahead of them including Arizona, Purdue and Gonzaga.
The current top 10 of the AP Poll includes:
- Arizona
- Michigan
- Iowa State
- UConn
- Purdue
- Duke
- Houston
- Gonzaga
- BYU
- Nebraska
Although no SEC teams are in the top 10, five conference teams are in the top 25 including:
- No. 11 Vanderbilt
- No. 13 Alabama
- No. 15 Arkansas
- No. 18 Georgia
- No. 21 Tennessee
Auburn was among the five other conference teams to receive votes in the poll, appearing at No. 25 on two separate ballots.
Both the Tide and Tigers will have an opportunity to move up the rankings this week.
Alabama travels to take on No. 11 Vanderbilt before hosting Texas on Saturday. Meanwhile, Auburn gets a pair of home games including Texas A&M on Tuesday night and No. 15 Arkansas on Saturday.
