Alabama brewery named one of USA Today’s Bars of the Year 2025
Reading time: 3 minutes

Each year, USA Today writers scour the country to find the best bars. From dive bars to sports bars to breweries, the company looks to find the best of the best for visitors + regulars alike.
This year, USA Today selected 29 spots across the country and one of our favorites right here in Tuscaloosa made the list.
Druid City Brewing Company made a name for itself in a small building just off campus for years but recently expanded its taproom, moving into a new building to give more space for all their customers.
The growth was noticed by USA Today.
“With its Leland Lanes bowling alley, Tuscaloosa Drug Co. salvaged furnishings, and chalk art honoring Crimson Tide legends, Druid City Brewing Company bucks the ‘I can’t believe this is Tuscaloosa’ upscale trend and emblazons crimson heart on rolled-up sleeves.”

Druid City has a wide variety of beer on tap but the most popular remains some of the original brews like the Moonlighter IPA and the North Porter. They made an appearance in our Beer Bracket earlier this year!
But it’s about more than the beer (and the food) as Druid City provides an atmosphere and community that resonates with anyone who steps into the brewery.
“Tuscaloosa’s first brewpub, opening after Alabama passed a 2009 gourmet beer law, spotlights musicians, writers and other artists in its Moon Room, serves stylized pub food with indoor-outdoor dining and offers classic pinball, video and board games inside. Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox has said he hopes to be DCBC owner/raconteur Bo Hicks when he grows up.”
