Alabama chef set to judge new Netflix cooking competition

If you’re a foodie in Alabama, you’re already familiar with Kelsey Barnard Clark.
Clark runs the popular KBC restaurant in her hometown of Dothan and has previously been named a semifinalist for a James Beard Award. She also won the Top Chef television competition in 2019.
Now, she’s putting on a different hat for a new Netflix series that drops Wednesday, Sep. 17.

Next Gen Chef on Netflix
Kelsey Barnard Clark will be one of two mainstay judges through the 8-episode event that pits experienced chefs against each other in a rigorous cooking competition.
“Go inside the world’s most prestigious culinary school as 21 of America’s hottest young chefs under the age of 30 compete in a one-of-a-kind competition. The Culinary Institute of America has set a rigorous gauntlet of tests to find who is worthy of being crowned the leading chef of the next generation.”

The show will drop the first seven episodes on Wednesday, Sep. 17 with the finale becoming available one week later on Sep. 24.
Olivia Culpo will be the show’s host while Clark will be joined by fellow judge Carlton McCoy, an expert sommelier. The two judges will also be accompanied by guest star judges throughout the series including:

- Chef Cat Cora, the first female Iron Chef
- Chef Paul Carmichael, Momofuku
- Chef Susan Feniger, restaurateur
- Chef Dale Talde, James Beard nominee
- Christina Tosi, CEO of Milk Bar

- Chef Daniel Boulud, French culinary icon
- Chef Thomas Keller, The French Laundry
- Chef Grant Achatz, Alinea
- Chef Harold Dieterle, HD Hospitality
- Chef Emma Bengtsson, Aquavit
- Chef Anne Burrell (in memoriam)
- Dr. Tim Ryan, President of the Culinary Institute of America

There will be 21 chefs from around the country competing on the show, all of them 30 years old or younger.

Clark has been a staple in the state’s culinary scene for quite some time now. She’s published two cookbooks including Southern Get Togethers which came out last year.
But she’s also embraced the social media side where she shares more about her cooking but also other lifestyle tips + tutorials.
