Alabama Coastal Foundation asking for volunteers for annual cleanup weekend
Reading time: 2 minutes

The 38th Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup is Sep. 20 and the Alabama Coastal Foundation is still asking for more volunteers to assist in picking up trash on and near the state’s coast.
You or your organization can volunteer to clean Alabama’s coastal waterways and beaches from 8AM to noon on Saturday, Sep. 20.

The annual event allows volunteers to take part in the state’s largest annual volunteer event as you clean your neighborhoods, local parks, streets and storm drains.
“Let’s work together to make the 38th cleanup a stellar event! We want you to be safe! Please use extra caution when cleaning and don’t do anything you feel may jeopardize your health and safety. Take note of large objects and report the location instead of tackling it yourself. Conditions can change.”

Here’s what you need to do to help out:
- Find your cleanup zone
- Contact your zone captain
- Get ready to work!
The Alabama Coastal Foundation says trash travels through storm drains, streams and rivers to become bay and Gulf pollution. Picking up litter benefits the state, the community and the Gulf.
Over 110,000 volunteers have assisted in this event since Alabama joined the International Coastal Cleanup in 1987. The foundation says it is grateful to the many helping hands and hearts who have pitched in to benefit our priceless natural resources.
