Alabama diesel prices hit new record high

Gas prices across the country continue to rise with the average price for regular fuel surpassing the $4 mark again this week in Alabama.
While regular fuel continues to climb toward the previous record set in 2022 ($4.63), diesel prices in Alabama set a new record high for average gallon price.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of diesel gas reached $6.15 on Sep. 20. That is up nearly $3 from September 2025.
The national average is now up to $6.52 which is also a new record high.

Diesel prices have been on a consistent climb over the last year.
- Sep. 2025: $3.42
- August 2026: $5.37
- Sep. 16, 2026: $6.04
- Sep. 23, 2026: $6.15
Currently, Daphne and Gadsden have the cheapest diesel prices across the state. Here’s how other metro areas compare according to AAA:
- Anniston-Oxford: $6.12
- Auburn-Opelika: $6.12
- Birmingham: $6.16
- Daphne: $6.04
- Decatur: $6.10
- Dothan: $6.16
- Florence-Muscle Shoals: $6.15
- Gadsden: $6.05
- Huntsville: $6.15
- Mobile: $6.08
- Montgomery: $6.13
- Tuscaloosa: $6.14
According to GasBuddy, there are still some gas stations with diesel available below $6 per gallon including:
- $5.09: Shell on Atlanta Highway in Montgomery
- $5.10: Chevron on Airport Boulevard in Mobile
- $5.35: Exxon on 2nd Street in Gordo
- $5.49: Marathon on Martin Street in Pell City
- $5.56: Circle K on Atlanta Highway in Montgomery
- $5.79: Wavaho on Whitsburg Drive in Huntsville
