Alabama first responders assisting in Texas flood recovery efforts

Catastrophic floods have impacted Texas this week with two people dying and hundreds of rescues needed near Uvalde and San Antonio.
First responders from across Alabama are being sent to the area to assist in recovery efforts. The crews include:
- 4 Type III Swiftwater teams
- Alabama Task Force 3
- Alabama Mutual Aid System Task Force 6

Alabama fire + rescue crews heading to Texas
The teams from Alabama have been sent to San Antonio where personnel will receive assignments and begin supporting flood search and rescue operations in affected communities.
The current deployment has groups from several counties including:
- Chilton
- Cullman
- DeKalb
- Jefferson
- Lauderdale
- Marshall
- Mobile
- Shelby
Each team consists of eight personnel and multiple boats specifically built to aid search, rescue and recovery operations. The Type III teams are trained and equipped to operate in active flood zones.
