Alabama florist chosen to help decorate White House for Christmas

A Tuscaloosa-based florist is getting a chance of a lifetime this holidays as she has been selected to help decorate the White House for the 2025 Christmas season.
Glow Floral Event Design, owned by Tammy West, applied for the position in early September and was selected from a large group of applicants to get involved with the decoration plans.
“As designers who truly love Christmas, the opportunity to serve our nation in this way is the honor of a lifetime. We’ve decorated hundreds of homes and venues over 30 years — but to help decorate the People’s House is a dream beyond anything we imagined.”

While some things are still being kept under lock and key, West was able to share some details about the decoration process + when we can expect to see the finished product. Keep reading for all the details!

West said her and her team will be in the nation’s capital from Nov. 23 through Dec. 1.
While they’re not sure exactly which areas they will be designing, they do know it will involve a multi-day installation with work being done inside the State Floor and Executive Residence alongside other decorators from around the country.
The decorations are expected to be fully unveiled shortly after Thanksgiving ahead of the White House Christmas Party scheduled for Dec. 1, which West and her team will get to attend.
West will be joined by Lacey Labaj, one of the company’s project managers and designers who started as an intern with Glow Floral.
“We are incredibly grateful and proud to represent the great state of Alabama and my city of Tuscaloosa — and we cannot wait to bring back the full story once we return.”
