This fall marks the 100-year anniversary of the first national championship season for the Alabama football program.

Earlier this week, the Crimson Tide announced the team will celebrate multiple championship teams who are marking landmark anniversaries in 2025, starting with the home opener. Here’s what’s already on the schedule:

  • Sep. 6 vs. ULM: 100 Years of Alabama Football Champions
  • Sep. 13 vs. Wisconsin: 50-year anniversary of 1975 SEC Championship
  • Oct. 18 vs. Tennessee: 10-year anniversary of 2015 National Championship
  • Nov. 15 vs. Oklahoma: 60-year anniversary of 1965 National Championship

Keep reading to find out what to expect throughout the season + some of the big names who may be back in town for each celebration.

Maybe the most anticipated celebration of the season will come at the same time as the most-anticipated home game for the Crimson Tide this season.

Its been just a decade since Alabama won the national title in 2015, the program’s first during the College Football Playoff era. It’s not clear just how many former players and coaches will be in attendance at this year’s Tennessee game but some names to keep an eye out for include:

  • Derrick Henry
  • Marlon Humphrey
  • Jonathan Allen
  • O.J Howard
  • Jake Coker
  • Kenyan Drake
  • Eddie Jackson

And of course, you should expect to see Nick Saban in attendance, celebrating one of his six championships in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama officially claims 18 total national championships with the first coming in 1925 when the Tide finished off an unbeaten season with a 20-19 win in the Rose Bowl.

That win started a stretch of three national championship seasons over six years. The next time that happened was in the 1960s, capped by the 1965 team who will be celebrated at this year’s Oklahoma game.

Part of the University’s celebration will include a new exhibit at Bryant Museum.

Earlier this summer, the museum announced the upcoming release of a captivating new book, Remember the Rose Bowl: The Alabama Crimson Tide’s Storied 100-Year History in the Granddaddy of Them All, authored by historians Tommy Ford and Mark Mayfield.

The book is part of the Museum’s ongoing mission to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of Alabama football and in conjunction with their new exhibit Walking with Champions, connecting to the centennial celebration of Alabama’s first football National Championship.

The book will be available for purchase on September 6, 2025 at the Bryant Museum gift shop and online store.
