Alabama’s connection to American Idol
Alabama has produced two American Idols—Rubben Studdard in 2003 and Taylor Hicks in 2006.
This year will be the show’s X season with Tuskegee native Lionel Richie returning for his seventh year as a judge.
Last year, an episode featured his alma mater Tuskegee University. The memorable show also highlighted the dedication of a greenspace near the campus named after his hit song Hello.
