Alabama women’s basketball
The Crimson Tide stopped a season-long three-game losing streak behind a career performance from Jessica Timmons in Gainesville.
With the win, Alabama improved to 21-7 on the season and 7-7 in SEC play. It came on the back of a home loss to No. 3 South Carolina but the week was still good enough to move up in this week’s AP rankings.
Alabama came in at No. 24, featuring in the top 25 for the seventh consecutive week. That’s the seventh longest streak in program history.
The Crimson Tide is one of nine SEC teams in this week’s rankings including five in the top 7. Alabama will be playing two of those teams in the final week of the regular season.
Here is how Alabama will get prepared for the SEC tournament:
- at No. 5 Vanderbilt | Feb. 26 | 6:30PM
- No. 4 Texas | March 1 | 11AM
The team is currently ranked No. 26 in the NCAA’s NET rankings. Alabama was a 6 seed in ESPN’s latest bracket projection.
Alabama men’s basketball
The Crimson Tide won its sixth straight game and jumped eight spots to No. 17 in the latest rankings, its largest one-week jump since 2024.
This is the highest Alabama has been ranked since the Jan. 5 poll after the Tide started 1-0 in SEC play.
Alabama is now the second highest-ranked SEC team, only behind No. 7 Florida. No. 20 Arkansas, No. 22 Tennessee and No. 25 Vanderbilt were also in this week’s rankings.
The Crimson Tide has three wins over teams currently ranked while six of their seven losses are to teams ranked in the top 25—four of them to top 10 teams.
This week, they’ll have a chance to avenge one of those losses but will be at Coleman Coliseum first for a midweek game:
- Mississippi State | Feb. 25 | 8PM
- at No. 22 Tennessee | Feb. 28 | 5PM
