It was mere weeks ago when many people believed Alabama’s preseason ranking was too high.

But since losing its season opener, the Crimson Tide has reeled off five consecutive wins including three straight over ranked SEC opponents. And now, Alabama has risen to its highest ranking of the 2025 season… so far.

Alabama took the No. 6 spot in the latest AP Poll, being the highest ranked 1-loss team in the country + the third highest ranked SEC team behind Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

Keep reading to see more from this week’s rankings + how Alabama’s conference-play gauntlet continues this Saturday.

AP Top 25

Ohio State remains on top of the rankings for the seventh straight week with Miami staying put just behind the Buckeyes but the rest of the top 10 saw a major shake up this week.

Here is how things stand after Week 7:

  1. Ohio State
  2. Miami
  3. Indiana
  4. Texas A&M
  5. Ole Miss
  6. Alabama
  7. Texas Tech
  8. Oregon
  9. Georgia
  10. LSU

Alabama is one of four teams in the country to have a win over a team currently ranked in the top 10.

The Tide was ranked as high as 4th on eight different ballots this week. This is the 285th consecutive poll Alabama has appeared in, extending the second longest streak in college football history.

Week 8 schedule

Both Alabama and Auburn continue their SEC gauntlet this weekend with another ranked opponent on the schedule.

For the Tide, it’s time for the Third Saturday in October which pits No. 6 Alabama against No. 11 Tennessee. This is the fourth consecutive week Alabama has faced a team ranked in the top 20.

Alabama has not faced four consecutive ranked opponents since 2022 and the team has not won four straight games against ranked teams since 2016.

Meanwhile, Auburn is hoping to shake off its third straight defeat to a top-20 opponent when it hosts No. 16 Missouri this weekend.
