Alabama school delays on March 16 due to severe weather

Several Alabama schools are delaying the start of classes on Monday, March 16 because of potential early morning severe weather.

U.S. National Weather Service Offices in Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile have categorized the storm system moving into the state On Sunday evening a Level 3 on the severe weather risk scale. This means much of the state could experience possible tornadoes, hail and damaging winds.

As of 9:00PM, the following schools are on a two hour delay:

  • Blount County Schools – 2 hours
  • Cullman City Schools – 2 hours
  • Cullman County Schools – 2 hours
  • Etowah County Schools – 2 hours
  • Fayette County School System – 2 hours
  • Gadsden City Schools – 2 hours
  • Oneonta City Schools – 2 hours
  • Dothan City Schools – 2 hours
  • Dothan City Schools- 2 hours
  • Fort Payne City Schools – 2 hours
  • Jackson County Schools – 2 hours
  • Scottsboro City Schools-Delayed 2 hours
