For the first time since 2022, the Alabama softball team will enter SEC play with a perfect record.

The Crimson Tide is 20-0 so far this season and will hit the road this weekend to take on Ole Miss.

With one more victory, Alabama will have its best start since 2019. That team set a program record by winning the first 33 games of the season.

Keep reading to learn more about the team’s fast start + what comes next for the Tide.

College softball rankings

The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll by Softball America but the team has only moved up over the last six weeks.

Here’s where they stand before SEC play:

  • Softball America: No. 4
  • D1Softball: No. 5
  • ESPN.com: No. 6

To no surprise, Alabama is helping the SEC dominate the top of the rankings.

Tennessee and Texas are ranked ahead of the Tide by all three metrics while Oklahoma is in the top 5 on D1Softball + ESPN.

Alabama softball

If you’re familiar with Alabama softball, you won’t be surprised to find the pitching staff being a key part to the team’s success.

Newcomer Vic Moten leads the way with 43.2 innings pitched, holding a 0.32 ERA in non-conference play. Jocelyn Briski and Kaitlyn Pallozzi have each pitched over 30 innings as well.

But what Tide fans hope is a sign of a national contender is Alabama’s bats so far this season.

The Crimson Tide has 39 home runs this year with eight players already recording at least two homers. That’s nearly two per game.

Last season, Alabama finished with 60 total home runs in 63 games.

Alexis Pupillo leads the way with 8 home runs while Brooke Wells and Ana Roman have 7 each.

Make sure to check out the Tide’s full schedule to see when they’ll be at home before the end of the regular season.
