It’s that time of year again. The state of Alabama is auctioning off online hundreds of surplus items.
Read on to learn how you can participate.
State surplus auction: August 17-25
Surplus Property, a division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), is holding its semi-annual auction through the online bidding site GovDeals.com.
The bidding begins on Saturday, August 17, 7:30AM and ends Sunday, August 25, 6:00PM.
Surplus state equipment along with items abandoned voluntarily by passengers at several southeastern U.S. airports are up for auction. Some objects include:
- Vehicles
- Computers
- Machinery
- Furniture
A listing of items can be seen beginning Saturday, August 17 at https://www.govdeals.com/alabamasurplus.
How to check out the auction items in person
If you want to see the items up close you can visit the Surplus Property warehouse and grounds at 4590 Mobile Highway in Montgomery.
Bidders are given three days to look:
- Wednesday, August 21 through Friday, August. 23
- Viewing begins at 8AM to 3PM each day
Bidders must be registered at GovDeals. Further information on the bidding process can be found at https://adeca.alabama.gov/publicauctions.
