Alabama town makes WorldAtlas list of best downtown areas in the South

WorldAtlas has put together its list for the top downtown areas for towns across the southern United States and one Alabama town made the list.
Representing the Wiregrass, the city of Eufaula was one of nine towns to make the list.

Eufaula, Alabama
Eufaula is the largest city in Barbour County with the population sitting at 12,882, as of the 2020 census.
WorldAtlas says Eufaula is a picturesque town with stunning views and beautiful architecture. Some things the outlet specified about Eufaula included:
- Chattahoochee River
- Lake Eufaula
- Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge
- Shorter Mansion
The southern comfort goes beyond the views though as WorldAtlas makes note of the town’s hospitality. The historic downtown area offers several places to stop in for food + drinks, shopping or just to visit.

- Fendall Hall
- Cajun Corner on Broad
- Phil’s Barbeque
