Alabama unseated as most demanded ticket on StubHub for 2024 season
Reading time: 3 minutes
The Nick Saban era is over in Tuscaloosa and while we may not know the exact impact on the field yet, his retirement is apparently having an impact on the fans.
According to stats from StubHub, Alabama is no longer the most in-demand ticket in college football. After taking the top spot in 2022 and 2023, the Crimson Tide have been passed by multiple teams.
Keep reading to find out where Alabama falls on this year’s list + more stats from the ticketing company ahead of the 2024 college football season.
Michigan takes #1 spot
After defeating Alabama in the College Football Playoff, Michigan went on to win its first national championship in more than two decades. The Wolverines also lost their coach but that has not stopped the hype from building in Ann Arbor.
Michigan tops the list as the most in-demand ticket as of August 7. Here’s the full top 10 list from StubHub:
- Michigan Wolverines
- Texas Longhorns
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Georgia Bulldogs
- USC Trojans
- Florida Gators
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
- Penn State Nittany Lions
SEC stays on top
Even though Alabama may not be in the top spot anymore, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) still has an impressive lead as the most demanded tickets above any other conference in the country.
The SEC has accounted for nearly half (43%) of all StubHub college football ticket sales during the offseason. It also has outsold the Big Ten, second place, by nearly 30%.
The SEC also has at least one team in 8 of the top 10 most sold games on the site so far. The most in-demand games for the 2024 season include:
- Vegas Kickoff Classic: USC Trojans vs. LSU Tigers (Sept. 1 @ Allegiant Stadium)
- Texas Longhorns at Michigan Wolverines (Sept. 7)
- Michigan Wolverines at Ohio State Buckeyes (Nov. 30)
- Georgia Bulldogs at Texas Longhorns (Oct. 19)
- Texas Longhorns at Texas A&M Aggies (Nov. 30)
- Georgia Bulldogs at Alabama Crimson Tide (Sept. 28)
- Ohio State Buckeyes at Oregon Ducks (Oct. 12)
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Texas A&M Aggies (Aug. 31)
- Clemson Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs (Aug. 31)
- Miami Hurricanes at Florida Gators (Aug. 31)
The new conference realignment with Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC has certainly had an impact on those sales. The two teams have each seen their offseason sales on the site increase by more than 400%.
