Alabama’s 12th Culver’s restaurant is coming to Oxford, Alabama at the 185 exit off of Interstate 20.

Culver’s Cheese Curds!

Famous for its butter burgers, frozen custard and cheese curds, the Wisconsin-based fast casual restaurant will settle down at the site of the former Shoney’s, O’Charley’s and American Inn and Suites.

According to the Anniston Star, in January 2022, the Oxford City Council approved an economic development agreement with three limited corporation developers to aid in site preparation for a new retail development at Interstate 20’s exit 185 area. The structures on the property were demolished this past summer.

As part of the agreement, the city is requiring the developers to secure three letters of intent from retail entities a year after the demolition of the buildings.

The 185 exit area, which is a main gateway for the town, has been making a comeback, especially with the addition of Big Time Entertainment, a massive fun & games venue.
