Reading time: 3 minutes

While Rickwood Field may have gotten the attention of the minor league baseball world this week, it’s the newer stadiums in Alabama that are in the spotlight from one national outlet.
Newsweek is letting its readers decide who has the best minor league ballpark in the country and all three Double-A teams in Alabama have made the nomination list.
- Regions Field | Birmingham Barons
- Riverwalk Stadium | Montgomery Biscuits
- Toyota Field | Rocket City Trash Pandas
Find out why each one made the list + how you can vote for your favorite to get the top spot!
Best Double-A Ballpark

Each of Alabama’s three minor league baseball teams have made national headlines in the last year but sometimes, the stadium quality + gameday experience can be overlooked with everything else happening.
Having one ballpark on the list would be an accomplishment in itself but Alabama is one of just two states (Texas) to have at least three stadiums nominated.
Check out what Newsweek had to say about each stadium:
Regions Field, Birmingham Barons
“Love the buzzy atmosphere of a Minor League stadium? You’ll find it in spades at Regions Field in downtown Birmingham. Wednesdays are dog friendly, Fridays are for fireworks, and every game day is for families thanks to a Wiffle ball field and batting cages. During the seventh inning, be sure to wave at the children’s hospital that overlooks the outfield; the kids there love watching the games and waving back.”
Riverwalk Stadium, Montgomery Biscuits
“Home of the Tampa Bay Rays Double-A affiliate, Riverwalk Stadium has a cool industrial feel from its former life as a train shed and its position among the old warehouses on the Alabama River. But the most fascinating part of attending a Biscuits game? Staff members shoot actual biscuits into the stands, so keep your head up and your hands ready for a flying puck of flaky dough!”
Toyota Field, Rocket City Trash Pandas
“When Toyota Field isn’t holding wine festivals, movie nights or yoga sessions in the outfield, it’s the home of the Southern League’s wildly popular Trash Pandas. Get a tray of Champy’s chicken, and then take your family to the Kids Zone for bounce houses and ski ball. You’ll definitely want pics with Sprocket the Trash Panda before visiting the Junkyard store for T-shirts emblazoned with baseball’s favorite raccoon.”
