The Alabama Department of Transportation will suspend temporary lane closures on interstates, U.S. highways and state routes in 10 counties from 6PM Thursday, Oct. 8, through 6PM Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026 due to the growing threat of severe weather looming from Hurricane Isaias.

The counties affected include:

  • Mobile
  • Baldwin
  • Escambia
  • Conecuh
  • Covington
  • Coffee
  • Geneva
  • Dale
  • Houston
  • Henry

ALDOT says drivers should postpone unnecessary travel and avoid flooded roads.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Isaias is forecast to make landfall late Friday or early Saturday as a Category 1 storm with damaging hurricane-force winds.

If the storm remains a hurricane at landfall, there’s a chance it could be a Category 2-3 storm which would also bring damaging winds to the cities along the coast. The National Weather Service of Mobile said residents should prepare for the possibility of long-duration power outages.
