Just months after Orlando Health announced the purchase of RMC Health System in Anniston, the company has announced the hospital will also undergo a name and branding change this year.

Effective Oct. 1, the hospital will be known as Baptist Health Calhoun Hospital. The new name is meant to signify RMC’s integration into the Baptist Health network.

“The new name represents more than a sign on the building; it reflects our shared vision for the future of healthcare in this community. We are proud to join the strong foundation established by Baptist Health here in Alabama while investing in the people, programs, and services that will help meet our community’s health care needs for generations to come.”

Keith Parrott, president and CEO of RMC Health System

What is changing at RMC Health System in Anniston?

The short answer is not much.

Yes, there will be a new sign on the building, a new name to search for hospital information and a new letterhead for billing. But the healthcare is expected to stay mostly the same.

The hospital includes:

  • 375-bed medical center
  • Outpatient facilities
  • Specialty practices
  • 2,000+ team members and 200 physicians

Through a comprehensive market study, input was sought from community members across the region to help select a new hospital name that honors RMC’s roots in Calhoun County while reflecting its future. New signage will be installed on day one.

“This new name reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re going. Baptist Health Calhoun Hospital honors the deep roots and trusted legacy of RMC Health System while representing our future as part of Orlando Health’s Alabama Region and Baptist Health. We are proud to build on that foundation and continue providing exceptional, compassionate care for the patients, families and communities we have the privilege to serve.”
