More than 20 new building permits were issued this past week statewide for construction projects exceeding $1 million, with seven of those permits tied to a multi-family development in Huntsville.

As well, high-dollar projects were approved in Athens, Anniston, Hartselle and Alexander City.

Here’s what to know:

$36 million apartment projects in Huntsville

Building permits totaling more than $36 million were issued this past week for a multi-family construction project, known as The Viola, is located on approximately 10 acres in Research Park kin Huntsville.

The project contains 204 apartment units in seven buildings located at 4321 Research Park Boulevard NW, Huntsville, AL 35806.

Common area improvements will include:

Outdoor swimming pool
Outdoor playgrounds
Community clubhouse
Community laundry
Fitness center
Pet washing station

Unit amenities include:

Dishwasher
Fridge
Microwave
AC/heat
Outdoor storage space
Balconies and patios
352 parking spaces for resident use only

Construction is expected to take 22 months. Doster Construction is the lead contractor on this project.
