APPROVED: University of Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium to serve beer + wine

It’s official! Tuscaloosa City Council and the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board (Alabama ABC) have approved the liquor license for Bryant-Denny Stadium’s concessionaire, Levy Premium Foodservice LP, allowing beer and wine to be served on-site. Read on for details.

Stamp of approval

After months of back and forth, alcohol sales have officially been approved for Bryant-Denny Stadium. According to the Birmingham Business Journal, the approval took place on Wednesday afternoon with the potential to be extended to other venues on campus in the future.

Now that the license has been green-lighted, fans can grab a refreshing beer or wine to enjoy in the stands. However, alcohol sales will be strictly enforced by the following regulations from the SEC:

• Alcoholic beverages can only be sold at designated stationary locations
• Alcoholic beverages may not be sold by vendors within seating areas
• An ID is required at every point of sale
• Beer and wine only; no hard liquor or mixed drinks may be sold in public seating areas
• Limits must be established on the number of drinks purchased at one time by an individual
• Alcohol must be dispensed into cups
• Staff are required to take safe-server training, and training on how to handle high-risk situations
• Designated stop times for sale and distribution of alcohol must be enforced. For football, that’s the end of the third quarter.
