The two high schools are separated by just nine miles, meaning there are plenty of home and away fans every time the two schools square off.
On the football field, they have now met 102 times, according to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society (AHSFHS). Auburn leads the series 51-48-3 including wins including a win in the 2026 regular season. The rivals split last year’s meetings with Opelika winning in the playoffs.
The Bulldogs also hold the longest all-time winning streak in series history, defeating Auburn every season from 1996 to 2004. That streak included four shutout victories.
The two teams would not meet again this year unless both make a run to the state championship game in Mobile.
