We stopped by Olivine, Auburn’s newest rooftop restaurant and bar, to get a look at the space, try a couple of drinks and see what it is all about. The spot is officially open on Gay Street and adds a new dining option to downtown Auburn.

Here is a first look at what you can expect when you visit.

A look inside

Olivine sits at 146 N Gay Street and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The interior features soft lighting, neutral tones and a bar that leads out to a rooftop patio overlooking downtown. The setup works well for dinner, casual drinks or meeting up with friends.

As the evening progresses, the space transitions from dinner service to a relaxed rooftop environment. The dining room closes earlier in the night at around 9 PM on weekdays and 10 PM on weekends. After that time, guests are seated on the bar and patio side on a first come, first served basis.

Menu and cocktails

We ordered two different cocktails during our visit. One of us tried the Satsuma Sour which is made with bourbon, Amaro Nonino, fresh satsuma, lemon + an egg white. The other tried the Auburn Sunset which includes light rum, Aperol, blackberry, lime + Prosecco. Both drinks gave us a sense of the cocktail direction offered at the bar.

Olivine offers dinner, weekend brunch and a late night menu. The options include pizzas, house made pastas, small plates and a variety of cocktails. There are lighter items such as salads as well as shareable plates and fuller entrees. Earlier in the evening the full dining menu is available and later in the night the bar side shifts to a simplified late night selection.
