The Everything Sweet party begins
On July 25, Everything Sweet celebrated one year of providing Auburn with the recipe to the sweetest celebrations. Ann Archer Atkins, owner of Everything Sweet, says the ribbon cutting ceremony was one of her favorite memories at her new business.
“It was really fun just to see all the people that have supported me and helped me build the business into what it is today all be gathered in one place.”
~ Ann Archer Atkins, owner of Everything Sweet
Atkins is an Auburn native and grew up baking with her parents. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Atkins picked up baking cakes as a hobby—one that stuck with her after graduating from Ole Miss.
“From cakes, it led me to doing a lot of other creative things, like planning parties, doing rentals and stuff like that.”

A day in the Everything Sweet life
Atkins operates under Alabama’s Cottage Food Law, which allows her make cakes to supplement for parties. On average, she makes about 15 to 20 cakes a week.
Everything Sweet opens at 12PM each day, but Atkins is busy long before the shop opens. She goes over orders, takes calls with clients for creative consulting, and makes invitations. Everyday is different, which Atkins enjoys.
“Just yesterday, we were planning a picnic for 120 girls and it started raining, so we had to pivot and do a whole picnic inside, but the different days makes it fun. The variety each day is what keeps me on my toes.”

Atkins works with a lot of sororities to plan their events—being able to connect with young girls, Atkins says, has been a great part of her business. However, Everything Sweet isn’t just for big events. The shop has “everything sweet” you could need to brighten any day.
“I believe that every day is a gift and that it should be celebrated as one. It’s just making the little things turn into a gift, whether it’s a happy that you find in our store to give to a friend who’s had a bad day or has a test coming up, or it’s customizing your big celebrations. I just feel like everyone should be celebrated every day and I like being all the components for that.”
