Beloved public fishing lake reopening in Opelika

Looking for a fishing spot this spring? Good news, The Lee County Public Fishing Lake will reopen this month under the operation of a new lake manager. The lake had been temporarily closed due to a change in management. 

What to expect? 

The fishing lake is back and better than before. 

Amenities include:

  • 130-acre lake
  • Public restrooms
  • Fishing pier
  • Boat ramp 

When you pack for your fishing excursion keep in mind that bait, fishing tackle and snacks will be available for purchase on site. Make sure to bring a valid fishing license and be prepared to purchase a required daily $3 fishing permit. Fish such as largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish and crappie are some of the fish that you will have the opportunity to catch while lake fishing.

Location: 321 Lee Road 808, in Opelika, Alabama.

Opening:  March 28, 2023

Alabama’s State Public Fishing Lakes are a must see and can be found throughout the state. The fishing lakes are managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR).
