Baldwin County’s incoming wholesale store has officially broken ground.

BJ’s Wholesale will soon have a second location in Alabama, following just a few years after its grand opening in Huntsville. Company and local officials gathered at the site last week for a groundbreaking ceremony.

“This will be the first wholesale club in South Baldwin. This is a really significant addition for our citizens to not have to leave Foley… We were working with these folks for about three years to bring them to this market.”

Ralph Hellmich, Foley mayor

The project is expected to take roughly a year to complete before opening its doors to the public.

The 14-acre site is located on the South Juniper Street Extension, one block east of South McKenzie Street.

The building will be 106,370 square feet and the club will include a gas station. The store will feature a variety of products including:

  • Groceries
  • Household goods
  • Tires
  • Automotive services
  • Electronics
